Pearson and HCLTech have agreed a multi-year partnership to develop and roll out skills and learning programmes using artificial intelligence (AI).
The deal will see Pearson use HCLTech’s engineering and digital tools, including its GenAI platform AI Force and the Career Shaper platform, to create new AI-powered training, assessment and workforce analytics products.
The aim is to help people across businesses, higher education and Government get ready for jobs in the AI era and close the skills gap.
Pearson will also use its own AI-led learning and assessment tools within HCLTech’s HR systems, including structured learning pathways and digital credentials through Credly, as well as the Faethm AI platform to support talent development and career progression.
The partnership will focus on three main areas.
The first is developing and launching new learning and assessment products together for enterprise clients, especially in sectors where skills are in high demand.
The second is setting up an AI tech lab, where both firms will work together to build new learning products using HCLTech’s Career Shaper platform.
The third is using both companies’ talent and assessment expertise to help businesses target their training, align learning with strategy, and reduce skills gaps.
Omar Abbosh, CEO at Pearson, said: “Workers and employers around the world continue to be challenged by the rise of AI in the workplace.
“This is causing a growing skills gap that needs our attention quickly.
“Together with HCLTech, we will equip people with the AI-driven learning tools and the skills that help them navigate continuous change and build successful, resilient careers.”
C Vijayakumar, CEO and managing director at HCLTech, said: “This partnership marks an exciting new chapter in our relationship with Pearson.
“As GenAI and digital engineering redefine what’s possible in education and workforce development, we are thrilled to expand this collaboration globally.
“Together, we have a unique opportunity to create transformative learning experiences and unlock competitive advantages for learners and institutions around the world.”
