Cornwall Council has confirmed that nominations are now open for the Proud to Care Cornwall awards, which recognise care workers in Cornwall.

Shortlisted nominees will be invited to an awards ceremony at the Eden Project on 19th September 2025.

There are 10 award categories covering different roles and contributions in adult social care, including home care, care homes, managers, new starters, unsung heroes, and rising stars.

Nominations can be submitted in writing or by video and will close on 30 June 2025.

Councillor Jim McKenna, cabinet lead for adult social care and health at Cornwall Council, said: “Following the success of last year’s awards we want to take the opportunity to again recognise this very special workforce who go above and beyond every day in Cornwall, supporting a whole range of people to live as independently as possible.

“Nominations are now open, and everyone is encouraged to get involved – from colleagues and care providers to the people receiving care and their families.

“Whether it’s a quiet act of kindness, years of dedicated service, or someone who’s made a life-changing impact, this is the moment to say thank you.”

The findings painted a picture of widespread ‘title inflation’, where lofty labels mask stagnant pay and stalled progression. More than one-third of respondents said they’ve received a senior-sounding title without a pay increase, while 38% said their title made their role appear more advanced than
