The Samaritans Training and Engagement Programmes (STEP) has been awarded Continuing Professional Development (CPD) accreditation.

For over 70 years, Samaritans has trained volunteers to support people across the UK and Ireland.

STEP now offers CPD certified courses to organisations in all sectors, helping staff support themselves and others, including colleagues, customers, and the public.

Some of the CPD certified courses include conversations with vulnerable people, listening skills, and building resilience and wellbeing.

Samaritans developed STEP to cover areas like suicide prevention, emotional health, trauma, and workplace wellbeing.

The CPD Certification Service has assessed and approved these courses, confirming they meet industry standards.

Rachel Calder, assistant director of learning and development at Samaritans, said: “I’m thrilled that our STEP training content has received CPD accreditation, emphasising its value and effectiveness in enhancing professional development.

“This accreditation illustrates the high quality of our training, which builds on Samaritans’ core expertise, and now also ensures that participants can gain recognised professional development credits, to help further their skills and career growth.”
