Coats Group plc has unveiled a new whitepaper, Weaving Global Patterns of Wellbeing, created in partnership with workplace culture authority Great Place To Work®. The report explores the strategies behind the group’s Energy4Performance (E4P) programme, which has seen over 500 wellbeing initiatives introduced across 55 markets.
The E4P programme aims to help employees “perform their best when they feel their best,” and has clocked up more than 54,000 hours of global engagement. Initiatives include yoga classes, mental health training, community activities, and localised programmes tailored to regional needs from China to Bangladesh to the US.
Coats has recorded a 6% increase in employee engagement and a 5% rise in wellbeing scores since the programme’s inception. The company says 92% of its global workforce express a desire to stay with the business, far above the 61% typical benchmark for global workplaces.
Among the featured initiatives are mental health ‘first aid’ training and counselling rooms in Shenzhen, free on-site vision checks and glasses in Bangladesh, nursery support for workers in India, and clean water provision in Indonesia.
David Paja, group chief executive officer at Coats, said: “Coats takes immense pride in the positive impact we have on our workers and their families all over the world. Our E4P programme is a testament to our dedication to fostering a culture of care and innovation. The passion of our people is a vital competitive advantage for our business, investing in people to produce the best long-term results. Partnering with Great Place To Work® allows us to continue fostering an ethical environment where every employee feels valued and supported.”
Michael C. Bush, CEO of Great Place To Work®, added: “We are excited to partner with Coats, recognised by Great Place To Work® and Fortune Media as one of the Best Workplaces in Manufacturing & Production™, and help them expand the reach and impact of their wellness initiatives. Coats’ commitment to employee wellbeing sets a new industry standard, and its efforts are creating better outcomes for the business and its employees all around the world.”
