The Association of Professional Standards for Asset Surveying (APSAS) has launched, aiming to improve the quality of asset surveying and create a career pathway for both new and existing professionals.
Developed through industry collaboration, APSAS engaged with the Institute of Asset Management and the Institute of Workplace and Facilities Management for guidance.
Matthew Steptoe of TSA Surveying, Mark Spilling of Assets55, Karl Horner of Mobiess, and Mark Whittaker and Vanessa Mason of Thomson FM were key figures in establishing the association.
Companies like TB&A, Bellrock, Nifes Consulting, and RLB have joined as founding members.
APSAS targets three main objectives: defining professional competence at different levels, creating a career pathway for asset surveyors, and attracting new entrants to the field with structured training and experience.
The association currently offers corporate membership, with individual membership development in progress.
Members will receive a technical training manual, and plans are in place to develop online training courses.
