Unite has secured a recognition deal with Wilson James Security, covering workers at the Sullom Voe terminal in the Shetland Islands.
The recognition agreement covers around 20 workers providing security services on site for EnQuest to patrol the premises in order to ensure the security and safety at the Sullom Voe terminal.
Sharon Graham, general secretary at Unite said: “The new recognition agreement which Unite has successfully negotiated with Wilson James Security for our members at the Sullom Voe terminal is an important step forward.
“It will help to drive up the standard of jobs, pay and conditions for the security workers.”
Unite will now have a platform to undertake collective bargaining on behalf of the security workers to improve jobs, pay and conditions at the terminal.
It added to the recent recognition deal with Repsol Resources covering around 40 workers at the Flotta oil terminal in the Orkney Islands.
Isabella Sutherland, industrial officer at Unite, said: “The recognition agreement covering our Wilson James Security members at Sullom Voe is a significant development.
“We are pleased that the agreement was voluntarily negotiated with the company and Unite is now better able to effectively represent the workers in future wage negotiations.”
