Ben has marked International Men’s Day with the launch of a new men’s health awareness training programme designed to improve understanding of the physical, emotional and psychological health challenges affecting men across the automotive industry.
With men accounting for more than 82% of the automotive workforce, the charity said the new training aims to encourage informed, supportive conversations and strengthen wellbeing at work.
The course is open to anyone in the sector, including people managers and employees of all genders.
Ben said the programme provides insight into key health risks and challenges, along with strategies to build resilience, improve personal wellbeing and support others.
Participants will learn how to recognise the signs of poor health, hold supportive conversations and access a toolkit of practical resources.
The course is available face-to-face or virtually, offering flexibility for employers and teams. It forms part of a wider series of new training products, including a recently launched equality, diversity and inclusion module and a women’s health awareness course scheduled for early next year.
The charity emphasised that all profits generated from BenTraining bookings contribute directly to its mission of providing free, confidential support for current and former automotive industry workers and their families.
Ben said its recent survey showed that over 99% of respondents had been personally affected by a health or wellbeing issue, reflecting rising demand for its services and the importance of employer-led wellbeing initiatives.
Julie Hayes, specialist services lead at Ben, said: “With a high proportion of males working in the industry, we’re pleased to launch this new Men’s Health Awareness training offering for automotive employers.
“It’s vital to be driving awareness and strengthening men’s health and wellbeing across the industry. Too often, common health and wellbeing concerns go unspoken – and that silence can have a serious impact.
“This training gives everyone the tools and resources to improve men’s health and wellbeing across the industry.
“We are deeply committed to supporting everyone in the automotive industry, in all roles and life stages. With our expertise built over the past 120 years, we’re uniquely positioned to deliver training that helps automotive people genuinely thrive in their work and home lives.
“We believe that empowering our automotive family to prioritise their health and wellbeing builds stronger, more resilient teams.
“This new training is part of a programme of new product development which we will be launching to the industry.
“We’re eager to partner with employers to support their employees so they feel valued, connected and confident to bring their best selves to work and beyond. We’re looking forward to working closely with many more automotive employers as a trusted training partner.”
Ben said it continues to expand its training portfolio, which already includes programmes on a range of wellbeing topics, including modules supporting employees going through the menopause. The new women’s health awareness course will launch in the New Year.
