Hull City Council is planning to hire 70 new staff for its waste team as part of the Simpler Recycling rollout due in March 2026.
The move comes after new national rules required councils to collect core recyclable waste, including food waste, from every household.
Sixty loader jobs and 10 driver chargehand roles are now being advertised.
A recruitment event will run on 4th October 2025, from 10am to 1pm at Staveley House, Stockholm Road, Hull, HU7 0XW.
The event is organised with the Employment Hub and will allow people to meet the waste and recycling team, see the vehicles, and get information about the jobs.
Councillor Charles Quinn, portfolio holder for environment at Hull City Council, said: “Simpler Recycling marks a significant step forward in how we manage waste across the city.
“By recruiting and training new staff now, we’re ensuring Hull is ready to meet these new standards.
“I encourage anyone interested to come along and find out more about joining our dedicated waste team.”
Applicants can apply through the Hull City Council jobs website.
Successful candidates will begin training in January 2026.
