Marine and Industrial Transmissions (MIT) has signed a lease for a new facility at Walbrook Business Park in Queenborough on the Isle of Sheppey.

The 2,000 sq m purpose-built unit will consolidate all operations under one roof and is set to open in summer 2026.

The company, which has been based in Queenborough since its founding in 1974, said the new site will include warehousing, a paint shop, machine work and repairs.

It will also feature modern office spaces, upgraded breakrooms and meeting areas to support collaboration with new vendors and brands.

John Logue, managing director of MIT, said: “This move secures employment for our wonderful workforce here on the Island and provides us with the opportunity to expand.”

He added that remaining on the Isle of Sheppey was a priority for the business, saying: “Our success over the past 50 years is due to the dedication and passion of our people.”

The facility will incorporate solar panels and modern insulation as part of MIT’s commitment to sustainability and to help reduce operating costs.

The company, part of Axel Johnson International, said it plans to expand its offering with driveline package builds, swing stock management and strategic spares warehousing.
