Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council and Blackburn College will host a free three-day recruitment event in February 2025, designed to connect local residents with career opportunities and professional support.
The event, titled Get Job Ready 2025, will take place at Blackburn Central Library and Blackburn Sports and Leisure Centre from 11th to 13th February 2025. It will include workshops, expert advice, and opportunities to meet with local employers offering a variety of roles.
Councillor Phil Riley, leader of Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council, said: “I am looking forward to our upcoming job fair. It’s a fantastic opportunity for both job seekers and local employers. We are committed to supporting our community by connecting local residents with meaningful career opportunities. This event will not only help people find work but also strengthen the local economy by fostering growth and employment across all sectors.”
The event will span three days, each with a specific focus.
Day 1 – Get Work Ready (11th February 2025, 10:00-15:00, Blackburn Central Library)
Participants will attend workshops designed to enhance interview skills, revise CVs, and prepare for job applications. Employment support services will be on hand, including mentoring, adult learning courses, and guidance from the National Careers Service.
Day 2 – Jobs and Skills Fair (12th February 2025, 10:00-15:00, Blackburn Sports and Leisure Centre)
Job seekers will meet local employers from the retail and hospitality sectors, with support available for completing applications. Live vacancies will be displayed on a vacancy board, and attendees can apply directly at an on-site application station.
Day 3 – Work with Us: BwD Council Jobs and Apprenticeships (13th February 2025, 16:00-19:00, Blackburn Sports and Leisure Centre)
The final day will highlight opportunities within Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council, including jobs, apprenticeships, and professional development programmes. Attendees will hear from council managers and learn about career advancement pathways.
