Hays, in collaboration with Multiverse, has launched an apprenticeship academy aimed at addressing the digital skills shortage in the UK. The ‘Data Analysis and Business Transformation Academy’ is designed to equip participants with vital skills including data analytics, communication, machine learning, and project management through level 4 apprenticeships.

This initiative responds to the pressing issue of talent accessibility, with 95% of tech employers facing skills shortages in 2023, as highlighted by the Hays UK Salary Guide. The academy offers an intensive 10–12-week bootcamp at the start of the apprenticeship, during which apprentices are paid. Following the bootcamp, apprentices gain practical experience at Hays’ partner organizations, contributing to various markets and projects.

Participants in the academy have the potential to further their qualifications and earn a £10,000 bonus upon completing the 2-year program. The first group of apprentices began in January, with an additional 25 starting in March.

Harry Gooding, Director of Skills and Learning at Hays, emphasized the academy’s role in the talent landscape: “This new academy is a game-changer in the talent world and offers the chance for businesses to access much-needed skills from individuals who can create real value from day one.”

Peppa Wise, VP GTM at Multiverse, highlighted the academy’s commitment to equal opportunity: “Our mission is to provide equitable access to economic opportunity for everyone – and this new academy from Hays will enable people to access world-class training and unlock great careers, regardless of their educational background or career history.”
