Asda has rolled out new benefits for its workforce of 150,000, focusing on later-life care advice and mortgage advice. In partnership with Legal and General’s Care Concierge service, Asda now offers a later-life care advice benefit.
This service provides confidential one-to-one telephone consultations to employees seeking advice on care for older relatives. Employees can receive guidance on various topics at no charge, including locating care homes, home care options, NHS funding entitlement, and state care support.
Moreover, the Mortgage Advice Bureau will extend its services to Asda employees, offering free, unbiased advice on mortgages and protection. This benefit includes access to an app featuring a budget planner and the opportunity for personal consultations with a mortgage adviser via telephone or video call, scheduled at the employee’s convenience.
This initiative comes after Asda’s recent update to increase the hourly pay rate for retail staff to £12.04, reflecting the company’s commitment to acknowledging and rewarding its staff’s dedication.
Hayley Tatum, Asda’s chief people and corporate affairs officer, emphasised the company’s approach to employee support: “We have made a record investment in pay this year to recognise the great work our colleagues do serving customers every day and we are delighted that our proposal has been accepted. We also understand that supporting our colleagues goes beyond pay and the workplace, which is why we continue to explore new benefits for colleagues to provide support for their and their families’ health and wellbeing.”
