PayFit has launched PayFit Copilot, a personalised artificial intelligence (AI) agent for employees to answer queries about contracts, pay and leave.

The tool is built into the company’s payroll and HR system and gives answers tailored to each worker’s situation, including contract type, payslip, leave balance and company agreements.

Sensitive or complex issues are still sent to the HR team.

Research from PayFit found that 16% of UK workers have used AI for payslip-related questions, with the number rising to 22% among those aged 18 to 34.

These queries are often specific and personal, such as pay deductions or leave entitlements, and generic AI tools can give inaccurate information, risking confidentiality when staff share personal details outside approved company systems.

Firmin Zocchetto, co-founder and CEO at PayFit, said: “AI only creates value when it understands the real context of the people using it.

“With PayFit Copilot now accessible to employees, our teams have designed a next-generation agent capable of going beyond generic answers found on the internet to provide employees with precise, personalised, and reliable answers, directly linked to their situation and that of their company.

“It’s an innovation built on our payroll and HR expertise, which saves HR teams precious time, brings clarity to employees, and fully respects data confidentiality.”

PayFit Copilot has been used by HR teams and managers since its launch in 2024, handling over 500,000 conversations and helping to absorb rising internal requests.

PayFit reported that 77% of teams have seen an increase in requests, with 82% of users saying they complete HR and payroll tasks more efficiently and 81% trusting the answers given by the artificial intelligence (AI) agent.

HR teams are spending up to 40% of their time repeating or reformatting information for staff, according to PayFit.

Zocchetto added: “This is why we are evolving PayFit Copilot into a truly contextual HR AI agent that is accessible to all.

“Now, PayFit Copilot adapts to the precise situation of each user, whether a HR professional, a business leader, or an employee.

“The agent takes into account their role, their company, and their authorised data, so the answers it gives back are not only personalised but they can be trusted too.

“Our clients can still rely on our customer support for more complex cases or strategic issues.”
