Allianz UK has launched a new Domestic Abuse Policy aimed at recognising and responding to the challenges of domestic abuse, providing added support for its employees.
The move ties in with the international campaign ‘Activism against Gender-Based Violence’, which ended after 16 days of raising awareness.
Research found an estimated 3.8 million people were victims of domestic abuse in England and Wales in the year to March 2025.
Of these, 2.2 million were women and 1.5 million were men.
Emotional abuse was the most common type reported.
Allianz has put together a team trained in both mental health first aid and domestic abuse trauma response.
The company has also created a guide for managers and employees and set up an internal hub with resources.
Matt Cox, chief claims officer at Allianz UK, said: “There’s no such thing as a ‘typical’ domestic abuse case and every situation is unique to the individual.
“We want to help and support our employees as much as we can during the times that really matter, whatever the situation.
“That’s why we’re proud to introduce our new Domestic Abuse policy in Allianz UK, designed to address the critical issues surrounding domestic abuse, which can significantly impact an employees’ safety and well-being.”
Cox added: “We’ve produced a range of support that provides dedicated information in different ways, so that our people know they can talk to someone or find information from internal and external resources and Allianz policies.”
Susan Bright, CEO of Employers’ Initiative on Domestic Abuse (EIDA), said: “We are delighted to see EIDA member Allianz launch their workplace response to domestic abuse for this year’s 16 Days of Activism campaign.
“The commitment from employers to support their employees and inspire others to do the same will help us to achieve our vision of every UK employer taking effective action on domestic abuse.”
