Salford Employment Hub has won the Employer Partnership Award at the 2025 ERSA Employability Awards for its Salford into Care programme.

The scheme is run with Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust and The Growth Company.

It aims to get Salford residents, especially those from priority groups, into health and social care jobs.

Salford into Care gives people structured routes into the sector, including information sessions, pre-employment training and practical workshops.

The programme guarantees interviews, placements and progression opportunities, including apprenticeships and permanent roles.

Since January 2024, 151 people have moved into health and social care jobs at Northern Care Alliance.

Candidates get training in essential skills, healthcare basics and access to the trust’s e-learning packages.

Additionally, there are opportunities in hospitals, community and domiciliary care.

The programme also includes flexibility and wraparound support.

Rohema Khan, head of people development at Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust, said: “The Northern Care Alliance NHS Trust remains steadfast in its commitment to fostering meaningful opportunities for individuals within our local communities.

“We are proud to contribute to the development of an inclusive and diverse talent pool, ensuring that our workforce reflects the communities we serve.”

Salford Employment Hub also received nominations for the Partnership and Collaboration Award and the Employer Engagement Practitioner Award.

Beverley Cole, employer and partnership co-ordinator at Salford Employment Hub, was a finalist for building strong employer relationships.

Councillor Teresa Pepper, Lead Member for Skills, Work and Business Support at Salford City Council, said: “We’re delighted ERSA has recognised our commitment to building strong employer relationships and supporting residents into meaningful work with this award.

“A special thank you to the Salford Skills and Work team, Northern Care Alliance and The Growth Company for their role in making Salford into Care such a success.

“This week we are also celebrating Greater Manchester Good Employment Week.”

Pepper added: “Good employment is one of the foundational cornerstones of a good life. In Salford, we are lucky to have a number of employers signed up to the Salford City Mayor’s Charter and to Greater Manchester’s Good Employment accreditation.

“Thank you to all those who participate and who are proud of their status as Good Employers.

“For me, being a good employer is good for people, good for business and good for Salford.”
