Ventilation and indoor air quality will be the main topics when senior construction professionals gather in Dundee for SELECT Professionals’ Day.
The event is set for 18th September 2025 at the V&A Dundee and will bring together decision-makers from across the construction sector to discuss changes and practical solutions in the built environment.
Aico will speak about mould and what Awaab’s Law could mean for Scotland.
Ubbink will focus on practical ventilation solutions.
BEAMA will cover ways to improve indoor air quality.
After the talks, an open panel Q&A will take place with Bob Cairney, director of technical services at SELECT, alongside representatives from the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and the Royal Incorporation of Architects in Scotland.
Special guests will include Mike Heffron, chief executive of tenement charity Under One Roof, chartered architect Gloria Lo, and Thomas Lennon, lead policy official for ventilation at the Scottish Government’s building standards division.
Alan Wilson, managing director of SELECT, said: “With Awaab’s Law coming into effect in England this October, and the likelihood of similar legislation being introduced in Scotland, the issue of ventilation has never been more pressing.
“The new law will require social housing landlords to investigate and address damp and mould within strict, fixed timeframes, and professionals across the construction sector must be prepared to address the challenges and responsibilities this brings.
“With such a hot topic to discuss, we look forward to welcoming colleagues from housing associations, local authorities, higher education and beyond to engage in this vital discussion.”
Associate members National Ventilation, Electrium, Flexel and Dimplex will be present to show the latest products and offer practical guidance.
SELECT Professionals’ Day is free to attend and will run from 9am to 1pm, with support from RICS and RIAS.
