Thackray Williams has appointed employment lawyer Jennifer Nicol as partner and head of its City of London office.
Nicol, who has over 20 years’ experience as a employment lawyer in London, will lead the employment team in the capital.
She was previously a partner at Doyle Clayton, heading up their Canary Wharf team and working with clients in financial, insurance, media and technology sectors, as well as family businesses and senior executives.
Nicol said: “I am excited to be joining Thackray Williams, a firm highly regarded for its excellent workplace culture as well as its legal expertise, and I look forward to working with the existing team of excellent employment lawyers.
“I am particularly excited about contributing to the growth of the firm’s London offering and helping to raise Thackray Williams’ profile in the capital.
“In addition to client work, I will be focussed on growth and helping the team in London to flourish.”
Nicol added: “My in-depth training in workplace inclusion and discrimination means I always strive to understand what HR clients and leaders need, above and beyond good commercial advice.
“I will always have in mind the risks client organisations are trying to manage, as well as ensuring my advice aligns with their organisation’s culture and values.
“I also represent a lot of individual clients, in situations that may be complex and challenging.
“My aim is to always keep the person and their objectives at the heart of the advice I provide.”
She said: “My decision to join Thackray Williams was based largely on the people. It is a highly successful firm which is led by very impressive people.
“I am especially looking forward to supporting the managing partners, who have a clear vision for the future growth of the firm.
“It is clear that the people in the firm are talented and efficient while also extremely pleasant to deal with.”
Emma Thompson, managing partner at Thackray Williams, said: “As a specialist in all aspects of UK employment law, with particular experience in employment litigation and discrimination, Jennifer will significantly augment our current offering in these areas, enabling us to enhance the proactive support we provide to our existing clients.
“We’re delighted that Jennifer has chosen to join Thackray Williams.
“Her appointment is part of our strategic plans to bolster our commercial group to enable us to deal with our growing client base, from global brands to ambitious SMEs.”
Vikki Herbert, managing partner and head of real estate at Thackray Williams, said: “We are now looking for a new head of commercial property to help service the increasingly complex estates of our commercial clients, be they businesses, professional landlords or property investors.”
