Arnold Clark has announced the recruitment of 118 new apprentices during Scottish Apprenticeship Week, further cementing its long-standing commitment to developing talent within the automotive and business sectors.

One of the UK’s largest car dealer groups, Arnold Clark offers apprenticeships to individuals aged 16 and over, providing the opportunity to learn valuable skills and gain recognised qualifications. Apprentices will receive training either on-site at Arnold Clark locations in Scotland or England, with some attending additional training blocks at the company’s GTG Training centres.

The business currently employs more than 900 apprentices, with 96% going on to secure full-time roles within the group.

While many of the roles are in traditional motor trade disciplines – including technicians, spray painters, body repairers and parts advisors – the programme also offers apprenticeships in areas such as engineering, customer service and business administration.

Jen Miller, early careers operations manager at Arnold Clark, said: “Apprenticeships provide Arnold Clark with talent and ideas to drive our business forward. We know young people can attend college, university or some other form of further education, but it’s not for everyone. Our apprenticeships allow young people to start on a career path from day one and earn while they learn. We’re proud of our track record of helping apprentices go on to enjoy a successful career, both at Arnold Clark and within the wider industry.”

As part of this year’s Scottish Apprenticeship Week, Dr Sandesh Gulhane MSP visited Arnold Clark’s Kilbirnie Street site in Glasgow to meet with apprentices across a range of disciplines.

Since 2004, GTG – Arnold Clark’s dedicated training division – has received £50m of investment and now operates five training centres across Glasgow, Edinburgh and Wolverhampton.
