Rail workers at Unipart Rail’s Crewe Depot will go on strike Tuesday, protesting the company’s decision to remove recognition of the RMT union. The move has been condemned by the union as an attack on workplace rights and has provoked outrage among staff demanding the immediate restoration of collective representation.

RMT general secretary Mick Lynch said: “Unipart Rail’s attempt to silence its workforce by removing union recognition is disgraceful. Tuesday’s strike will send a clear message that our members will not accept this attack on their rights. Unipart needs to do the right thing and reverse this assault on our members collective rights.”

The industrial action is part of an escalating campaign, with another strike scheduled for 25th February. Additionally, the union has launched a fresh ballot to renew its mandate for industrial action, urging members to vote in support of the ongoing efforts to defend their rights.

Unipart Rail has yet to comment on the matter.
