Maximus celebrates job support impact in Wrexham

A recent employment support event led by Maximus in Wrexham has recognised the achievements of individuals who have overcome barriers to employment.

The event was attended by local employers, charities, and community partners, including Mark Isherwood, Member of the Senedd for North Wales and Chair of the Cross-Party Group on Disability.

Maximus, a provider of employment and disability support services, has supported Wales residents by helping them overcome barriers to employment and find sustainable work.

The company provides up to 21 months of intensive, specialised employment support to those with a health condition or disability through the Work and Health Programme (WHP) since 2023.

The Work and Health Programme Pioneer (WHPP) has been launched since September 2023 to help those with additional barriers, such as people with disabilities, veterans, carers or refugees.

So far, more than 900 Wrexham residents have been supported on their journey into work.

Claire Davies, regional contracts director at Maximus, said: “Maximus is proud to support people with multiple barriers across North & Mid Wales find sustainable employment and it was wonderful to welcome Mark Isherwood to celebrate the success of our programmes.

“Looking ahead, we are excited to continue building on this success, expanding our support to even more individuals in the area.

Davies added: “Through initiatives like the Work and Health Programme (WHP) and Work and Health Programme Pioneer (WHPP), we are able to not only helping individuals overcome barriers to employment but also contributing to the local economy by empowering people to build fulfilling, long-term careers.”

Maximus has worked with the Community Partnership Network (CPN), which brings together private, public, and voluntary sector organisations to collaborate, innovate and deliver integrated services.

The organisation is also a Disability Confident Leader and promotes disability confidence.

Isherwood said: “This employment support programme, launched by the previous UK Government and delivered by Maximus, has been instrumental in helping disabled people, individuals with health conditions and other groups in the area to find and sustain employment.

“I thank all those involved in the programme for their invaluable work, and once again congratulate all the participants, staff and employers who received an award.”
