Octopus Energy tops list of best companies to work for in the UK

Octopus Energy has been named the UK’s best company to work for in 2024, earning an index score of 87.16 out of 100. The study, conducted by Zensai, highlights the importance of culture, diversity, and employee well-being in creating top workplaces.

A new study by Zensai has revealed the best companies to work for in the UK, with Octopus Energy leading the pack. The employee development platform analysed Glassdoor.com reviews for over 200 companies with more than 100 reviews, ranking them based on eight factors including culture, diversity, management, and career opportunities.

Octopus Energy secured the top spot with an index score of 87.16 out of 100. The company, founded in 2015 and led by CEO Greg Jackson, earned high ratings for culture and values (4.56) and diversity and inclusion (4.55). Senior management and career opportunities also scored well, at 4.27 and 4.22 respectively. Employees expressed high satisfaction, with 86% recommending the company to a friend.

Bain & Company ranked second with an index score of 85.92. The management consultancy excelled in employee recommendations, with 92% saying they would recommend the company to friends. However, its work-life balance rating was the lowest in the top ten, at 3.40.

Mastercard took third place with an index score of 82.00, scoring particularly well in diversity and inclusion (4.40) and work-life balance (4.31). Salesforce followed closely in fourth place with an index score of 81.93, achieving its highest rating in compensation and benefits (4.41).

Workday rounded out the top five, scoring 81.82. The software company excelled in diversity and inclusion (4.50) and culture and values (4.45), though career opportunities lagged slightly with a score of 3.96.

Other notable companies in the top ten include Arm (80.89), Google (80.30), and SAP (79.73). Red Bull finished the list in tenth place, with an index score of 78.99 and a standout 91% employee recommendation rate.
