Optima Health has agreed to buy the trade and assets of Care first, a mental health services provider, from Priory Group.

The deal is for £350,000 cash (£15,000 net) on a cash free, debt free basis, with completion set for 2 June 2025.

The acquisition will see Optima Health add over 1,000 customers and bring in around 40 experienced staff, increasing its presence in mental health services and expanding its employee assistance programme offering.

The move is set to create extra cross-selling opportunities for Optima Health’s other occupational health and wellbeing solutions.

Optima Health said this fits with its strategy to grow in the occupational health sector by consolidating businesses where it has expertise and adding further scale and growth opportunities.

Jonathan Thomas, chief executive officer at Optima Health, said: “The acquisition of Care first demonstrates our ability to continue to execute on our communicated strategy.

“The business is strategically aligned with ours in a market we understand extremely well, creating opportunities for scale.

“We look forward to integrating the businesses and benefiting from the significant additional specialist capabilities and revenue growth opportunities, as we continue to evaluate further value-enhancing bolt-on opportunities in the market.”
