Elevate NewGen and Diversity Alliance launch workplace diversity survey for events sector

The aim is to provide insight into real workplace experiences, not just headline demographics, and to support practical change in the sector.

Elevate NewGen and Diversity Alliance have launched a survey to look at how socio-economic background and race affect people’s working lives in the UK events sector.

The survey is aimed at 18 to 25-year-olds from underrepresented backgrounds.

It is fully anonymous and takes less than 10 minutes to complete.

All organisations that take part get a personalised survey link, access to their own results, and a tailored report from Diversity Alliance with practical recommendations.

Data stays with each business and is not shared or identified.

Only anonymised results will be included in an industry-wide report.

The initiative is designed to fill a gap in data, as information on socio-economic background and race is still underreported in the events industry.

Organisations are encouraged to use the survey to help shape more inclusive recruitment, progression and retention strategies.

The aim is to provide insight into real workplace experiences, not just headline demographics, and to support practical change in the sector.

Gabby Austen Browne, founder of Diversity Alliance, said: “I’ve partnered with Elevate NewGen because I believe in their commitment to building pathways for underrepresented talent, and their goal to turn insight into action to tackle the systemic challenges limiting diversity across our industry.

“That includes recognising the importance of intersectionality — understanding that workplace experiences are shaped not just by race, gender or sexuality, but also by class.”
