LinkedIn has unveiled its Jobs on the Rise 2025 list, revealing the 25 fastest-growing job roles across the UK. The report, based on LinkedIn data over the past three years, highlights key opportunities in a rapidly evolving job market driven by technological advancements and changing work trends.
Artificial intelligence (AI) continues to be a dominant force in reshaping industries. The role of artificial intelligence engineer ranks first on the list, with professionals in this field developing and implementing AI models and algorithms. The most common hiring locations for AI engineers include London, Manchester, and Bristol, with demand spanning technology, IT services, and consulting sectors.
Meanwhile, the healthcare sector is also experiencing significant growth. Home health aides rank second, reflecting increased demand for in-home patient care services. These roles are particularly prevalent in cities like Liverpool, London, and Leeds, with personal care services and caregiving identified as key skills.
The aviation sector has seen a resurgence as well, with aircraft mechanics ranking third. With hiring concentrated in London, Cardiff, and Glasgow, these roles are critical to maintaining the safety and efficiency of the growing air travel industry. Other technical roles making the list include control systems engineers and instrument technicians.
Data governance managers, ranking fourth, play a crucial role in ensuring data quality and compliance across organisations. This role has seen rapid growth in media, telecommunications, and consulting sectors, with a particular emphasis on skills in data governance and master data management.
The report also highlights emerging roles in sustainability, such as environmental officers and energy managers, reflecting a growing focus on environmental responsibility. Energy managers, who rank eighth, are increasingly sought after in London, Manchester, and Leeds, with expertise in energy management and renewable energy highly valued.
Among the other notable roles on the list are chief revenue officers, credit risk managers, fundraising managers, and treasury analysts. The report also underscores the continued relevance of traditional roles such as pilots, tour guides, and professors, which are adapting to meet modern demands.
In-person roles remain dominant, though many employers are offering hybrid work options. For instance, 52% of AI engineer roles are hybrid, while nearly three-quarters of director of procurement positions offer flexible work arrangements.
