More than 1,000 job centre security guards working for the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) are set to walk out in a dispute over pay.
Staff employed by G4S to work at the DWP job centre will walk out across the country over a series of dates from 7th May to 29th May.
The dispute started over G4S’ below-inflation pay offer, white trade union GMB said left nearly 70% of the security guards on minimum wage.
Eamon O’Hearn, GMB National Officer, said: “These security guards work hard in a difficult, demanding and often dangerous job.
“They deserve a proper, living wage for what they do.
“G4S seem unwilling to provide that, so workers are taking matters into their own hands.”
