The agreement includes the introduction of Planning, Preparation and Assessment (PPA) time into sixth form college teachers’ terms and conditions.

The training, developed with Visa, is available for primary school teachers from April and will follow for secondary school teachers by the end of 2026.

NFER called on the Government to provide enough funding for colleges to pay teachers more.

According to the National Foundation for Educational Research (NFER), of the 26.9% of teachers considering leaving, only 13.8% of that group subsequently left, while 86% remained in post.

The new courses will be made available to all teaching staff to improve their knowledge in adapting lessons for a range of needs.

The polling from the TUC revealed that 80% of parents with a child in school or college trust educators to make decisions about AI in their children’s learning.

The union said expanding SEND provision will increase pressure on an already stretched workforce, particularly teaching assistants who play a central role in supporting children with additional needs.

The Government report surveyed more than 10,800 teachers and school leaders and painted a mixed picture of working life in England’s state schools.

The data from GoStudent revealed that teachers’ “first paid day” does not fall until 4th December, once unpaid overtime is accounted for.

The 2025 findings showed that 76% of staff feel stressed, 36% are at risk of probable clinical depression and 77% have experienced symptoms of poor mental health due to work.
