More than half of people aged 25 to 40 support a proposal allowing them to access a year's worth of state pension early in exchange for delaying retirement benefits by a year, according to new research from the Social Market Foundation.
The research found 39% are set to fall short of keeping up their current standard of living, while 35% could drop below minimum retirement living standards.
The SMF called for a “pension health check” scheme to be brought in alongside pensions dashboards to help deal with the retirement under-saving crisis.
The SMF argued that the Government should amend the Pension Schemes Bill currently before Parliament to introduce mandatory disclosure of employer pension contributions on all job adverts.
