Transport Scotland has launched a £1.94bn procurement process for the remaining sections of the A9 Dualling Programme, with work expected to support jobs, training opportunities and supply chain businesses across Scotland.
A new report has called on fleet insurers to publish evidence supporting the two-year experience requirement that many newly qualified HGV drivers say prevents them securing employment.
The funding will provide training programmes and paid work placements organised by social housing groups and professionals.

The academy is designed to help colleagues use AI in their daily jobs, save time and improve services for customers.
The ambassadors’ role includes encouraging young people from disadvantaged backgrounds who might not have considered aviation before.
The centre expands electrical, plumbing and heating training for apprentices from London and Kent.
Reeves said: “We guarantee that every young person will be offered a place in college, an apprenticeship, or personalised job support.”
The new phase follows last month’s Post-16 Education and Skills White Paper and aims to ensure employment closely matches local labour market demands.
