The petition warns that without urgent change, millions of savers will continue to face long waits, while weak providers benefit from delays and confusion.

Research found 63% of people believed delays were stopping them from managing their retirement savings properly.

The company said too many workers are still missing out, especially those in part-time, lower-paid, and gig economy jobs.

Lisa Picardo said: “Relying solely on the State Pension or a workplace scheme where only the minimum has been put aside is unlikely to provide the financial security most aspire to.”

The report found some pension transfers took less than seven working days, but others dragged on for months or even years.

Almost half of those surveyed, at 49%, preferred a moderate-risk approach, accepting some ups and downs if their pension grew over time.

On average, savers contributed £285 (19%) more to their pensions in 2024 compared to 2023, taking the average up from £1,192 to £1,477.

The survey revealed that 22% of over-65s said there were no benefits of AI, while 10% of under-65s and 5% of 18 to 34 year olds agreed.

In 2024, research revealed that the average transfer time among providers that transferred pensions to PensionBee was 22.4 days.

By December 2024, 65% of savers aged 55 and older expressed confidence in their pensions.
