Cancer made up 68% of group critical illness claims, 39% of group life assurance claims and 27% of group income protection claims.
The concern about cancer was echoed by 18% of all staff themselves, rising to 27% of those over 55.
Two-thirds (66%) of employers said that being unable to access support for mental health was affecting their workers.
