According to data, without more investment in training, the Government’s Warm Homes Plan to upgrade five million homes by 2030 is at risk.

Skills pilots will run in Pembrokeshire, Cheshire and Lincolnshire, with £2.5m of Government funding to support new training centres, courses or career advisers.

The site will train thousands of engineers every year in skills like installing heat pumps, EV chargers, solar panels and battery storage.

Duncan McCourt said: “The challenge now is to ensure we have enough SAF to meet the mandate whilst keeping costs low and create thousands of jobs in the process."

The initiative includes a consultation to expand the Boiler Upgrade Scheme, while launching funding and skills programmes to grow the workforce for a low-carbon future.
