Only 23% reached the highest ratings for transparency, meaning fewer than a quarter were open about the support available to parents, carers and job candidates.

Unite said a carers’ passport would help staff document their need for flexibility and support.

Nearly two thirds (65%) of working carers said they would look for a new job if their employer restricted flexible hours.
