CMI names James Reed CBE as next president
Reed said: “It is a privilege to step into the role of CMI President and build upon the extraordinary work of Fiona Dawson CBE."

The Chartered Management Institute (CMI) has appointed James Reed CBE (pictured) as its next president, replacing Fiona Dawson CBE when her term ends this month.
He is chairman and chief executive of recruitment company Reed and chairman of match-funding platform Big Give.
Reed is also a CMI trustee and was awarded a CBE in 2023 for services to business and charity.
Reed said: “It is a privilege to step into the role of CMI President and build upon the extraordinary work of Fiona Dawson CBE.
“I have always believed that business should be a force for good. That begins with skilled managers and leaders who build fair and respectful workplaces.
“CMI is uniquely placed to drive this approach. By championing training, practical qualifications, and modern management practices, CMI enables individuals to build rewarding careers while ensuring employers have the talent they need to deliver – be that for their customers through better service, commercial wins that fuel growth, or improved public services for taxpayers.”
Reed added: “I am excited to support CMI’s mission to equip the next generation of leaders with the skills and the confidence they need to lead with purpose.”
Ann Francke OBE, chief executive officer at CMI, said: “With over three decades of experience connecting people with opportunity, James brings invaluable insight into how we can turn ‘accidental managers’ into confident, capable leaders.
