Adept HR Services urges firms to prepare for employment law changes
The consultancy advised employers to review contracts, policies, disciplinary and grievance procedures, harassment prevention measures and record-keeping.
Adept HR Services has urged businesses to prepare for changes under the Employment Rights Act 2025.
From today, 1st October 2026, the deadline for most employment tribunal claims increases from three to six months.
Further trade union measures will take effect from 30th October, alongside duties requiring employers to take all reasonable steps to prevent sexual harassment.
From 1st January 2027, the qualifying period for ordinary unfair dismissal protection will fall from two years to six months.
The statutory cap on compensation for successful unfair dismissal claims will also be removed.
Neil Blackwood, managing director at Adept HR Services, said: “These reforms are not simply dates to put in a diary.
“They change the environment in which employers manage people, resolve workplace issues and make decisions.
“Businesses that prepare early will have more time to review their processes and make sure their managers understand what is expected.”
