Telecom and digital services provider du has partnered with Sapia.ai to introduce artificial intelligence (AI) across its recruitment process.

The partnership will use Sapia.ai’s conversational assessment platform to support recruitment across corporate and frontline roles.

Candidates complete a structured chat-based interview before receiving personalised insights, while recruiters and hiring managers receive data-driven information intended to reduce manual screening.

The companies said the technology was designed to support rather than replace human decision-making during recruitment.

Around 8,000 chat interviews have been completed in the first few months of the partnership, with an 87% completion rate.

Candidates rated the interview experience 9.1 out of 10, while 95% said the automated insights they received following the interview were useful.

The research also found 85% of candidates said they were likely to recommend du as a place to work based on the online interview experience.

Fahad Al Hassawi, chief executive officer at du, said: “AI is changing how organisations operate, and for us that has to begin from within. The recruitment process is an important part of that journey because it is a person’s first meaningful interaction with du as a potential employer.

“Our partnership with Sapia.ai allows us to use AI to make that experience more consistent, efficient and insightful for candidates and our hiring teams.

“The early response is very encouraging for us, considering the feedback we have received from the candidates.”

“Our objective is not to take people out of hiring decisions, but to use technology to create a more consistent experience for every candidate and give recruiters better information to base their decisions.

“The engagement we have seen from du candidates shows the potential for AI-powered recruitment to improve hiring efficiency and the experience people have with an employer.”
