79% of mental health first aiders feel confident talking about suicide at work – MHFA England
The survey found that 43% of employees had already supported someone experiencing thoughts of suicide in their role.

79% of trained mental health first aiders said they felt confident having conversations with employees about suicide, according to data from MHFA England.
The survey found that 43% had already supported someone experiencing thoughts of suicide in their role.
Half said their organisation did not have a clear process for what happens next.
Sarah McIntosh, CEO of MHFA England, said: “The people at the frontline of this are already showing up.
“Nearly half of our MHFAiders have supported a colleague through one of the most difficult conversations anyone can have at work, and the vast majority feel confident doing it.
“What we’re seeing now is a proper opportunity to match that individual confidence with organisational readiness, so no one is having this conversation without a clear process and proper support behind them.”
