West of England Mayoral Combined Authority is seeking a delivery partner to help run a work experience programme for young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).

Up to £60,000 is available through the West of England Careers Hub for an organisation with experience supporting SEND students and working with schools and employers.

The programme will run from October 2026 to July 2027 and will work with secondary schools, employers and the Careers Hub to give more young people access to quality work experience.

The deadline for applications is midnight on 9th September.

Helen Godwin, Mayor of the West of England, said: “We are determined to make the West of England the first NEET Zero region in the country, where every young person can see a future for themselves in the world of work.

“For young people with SEND, inclusive, tailored work experience can make a huge difference in helping to build the skills and confidence to succeed.

“We are looking forward to working together to help make that happen.”

Ellise Hollie Hayward, EDI ambassador at Ashton Park School, said: “Every young person deserves the chance to learn, grow and fulfil their potential.

“Seeing ability before disability, and recognising the talent and potential in every individual is hugely important.

“My own work experiences have been life-changing, giving me confidence, independence and opportunities despite the daily challenges of living with cerebral palsy.”

Hollie Hayward added: “Creating truly inclusive workplaces starts with a shift in attitude, a willingness to understand and the confidence to see what someone can do, rather than what they can’t. Those small changes can transform lives.”
