UKG has added artificial intelligence (AI) tools for frontline self-service, recruitment and payroll to its workforce platform.

The quarterly platform update included UKG Bryte Voice, Agentic Pay and AI-assisted high-volume recruiting.

Bryte Voice allows employees to use Siri or Google Assistant to access UKG Pro, ask questions and complete 12 actions using natural language.

Employees can check schedules, workplaces, team shifts, timecards and holiday allowances.

They can also make changes to direct deposit details.

Agentic Pay uses natural language to investigate payroll and allows staff to check potential issues before payroll is processed.

The recruitment tools provide AI job recommendations and bulk applications to support high-volume hiring and roles that are difficult to fill.

The tools operate through the UKG Workforce Operating Platform, which connects HR, payroll and workforce management.

Suresh Vittal, chief product officer at UKG, said: “Frontline work is where strategy becomes execution, and where decisions around people, compliance, service, and trust happen in real time.

“CHROs need AI that does more than inform. They need AI that uses context to orchestrate action and help people move work forward.

“That is what UKG has built with our Workforce Operating Platform: a system of action for the frontline.”

Jason Averbook, veteran HCM analyst and co-founder of Now to Next, said: “Voice AI is bigger than convenience. It’s about trust in frontline work and the people doing it.

“When technology lives in the flow of a nurse’s shift, a store associate’s day, or a technician’s route – instead of pulling people away from those moments – it sends a clear message: their work matters more than the interface.

“That’s trust. Every extra click, search, and handoff creates friction.

“But when tools are intentionally designed for how frontline work actually happens, confidence goes up, burden goes down, and work moves.”
