North East Lincolnshire Council launches employment programme for young adults
The programme, careerShift BOOST, is aimed at adults aged 18 to 24 who want to move closer to employment.

North East Lincolnshire Council has launched careerShift BOOST, a free programme aimed at adults aged 18 to 24 who want to move closer to employment.
The programme is run by the adult careers team and offers four sessions in two weeks to build confidence, develop employability skills and help participants get ready for work.
The sessions cover CV writing, interview preparation, teamwork, communication, setting goals and planning next steps.
Participants will also meet local employers and hear directly from businesses about what they look for in CVs, applications and interviews.
Employers such as TK Maxx and Sainsbury’s have supported the sessions by offering advice and talking about job opportunities and working life.
Leo Scott, who took part and now works at Tesco, said: “If anyone is wanting to develop new skills, boost their confidence and generally just feel more fit for the world of work, this is the best way to prepare. I would recommend it to anyone.”
Wendy Trask, Operations Manager for Employability at North East Lincolnshire Council and Lead for the Adult Careers Service, said: “Looking for work can feel overwhelming, particularly if you’re unsure where to start.
“We recognised that some younger people didn’t feel comfortable taking part in the full careerShift groups, so a shorter introductory offer was developed with support from Lorraine, one of our Careers Advisers, who now runs the programme.
