Nine young people supported into work through UKSE bursaries

Nine young people across North Staffordshire have received financial support to help them access training and employment through an employability bursary scheme backed by UKSE.

Investment specialist UKSE has partnered with YMCA North Staffordshire to provide Employability Bursaries for people aged under 25, designed to remove some of the practical and financial barriers to entering work.

The bursaries have so far supported nine young people with costs including transport to job interviews, photo identification, interview and professional clothing, and basic equipment or tools required for particular roles.

Among those receiving support was Demi, who secured a role as a support worker for adults with disabilities.

She said: “The bursary support has been a total gamechanger for my job.

” It’s helped me with travel costs to get to my interview, induction training and my daily commute, and has made my first few weeks stress free, allowing me to focus on my work rather than how I’m going to get there and back.”

Hairdressing student Djwanna also received funding to purchase tools and equipment to help her complete her level 1 and 2 hairdressing qualification and develop a portfolio of work.

She said: “The funding has helped to widen and improve my skills and professional development.
