New Zealand has taken eight of the top 20 places in a global ranking of destinations for seasonal workers, according to research from Remitly.

Locations were scored out of 100 based on cost of living, rent affordability relative to the local minimum wage, activities, job demand and safety.
Niseko in Japan was named the highest-scoring destination overall, receiving 79 points out of 100.
The ski resort recorded a safety score of 92.9 and offers seasonal opportunities across hospitality, ski schools and lift operations.
Cortina d’Ampezzo in Italy placed second with 73.1 points and recorded the highest safety score in the research at 94.1.
Central Otago in New Zealand ranked third overall with 68 points and was the highest-rated destination for seasonal agricultural work, including fruit-picking opportunities around Cromwell and Alexandra.
Queenstown ranked fourth overall and Wanaka sixth, making them the highest-rated ski destinations outside Japan and Italy.
