A quarter (25%) of Brits are happy to chip in for workplace gifts, but 17% said they do not like contributing for people they barely know, according to research from greetings card marketplace thortful.
In the UK, one in three workers buy up to 10 gifts a year, while one in five spend up to £20 per gift, meaning the average spend is £200 annually.
The research found Glaswegians were the most generous, with 20% spending £25 or more per gift.
In the UK overall, £6 to £10 was the most common contribution, with nearly a third choosing this amount.
10% of workers felt too guilty to say no, with 8% not wanting to be the only one not contributing and 5% admitting they have pretended to forget.
