TSSA strikes at West Midlands Trains to proceed after pay row

Rail union TSSA has confirmed that strikes will go ahead later this week at West Midlands Trains (WMT) after a row about rest day working payments.
TSSA said the action is happening because WMT and the Department for Transport failed to keep their promise to secure an improved rest day working agreement, which would give TSSA members the same terms as those in other unions.
Roster clerks are set to strike from 00:01 on 9th July 2026 until 00:01 on 10th July 2026.
Duty train crew managers and control grades will not book on for duty between 12:00 on 10th July 2026 and 12:00 on 11th July 2026.
Maryam Eslamdoust, general secretary at TSSA, said: “These strikes will go ahead as planned because our members have not been given parity with those in other unions – a perfectly reasonable demand.
“As things stand we face an intolerable situation.
“Our reps at West Midlands Trains have consulted the membership and they remain determined to proceed with their legitimate action.”
Eslamdoust added: “The last round of industrial action caused a significant impact to services and the same will happen this time around.
