Teachers to receive 6.5% pay rise over two years under multi-year deal
The multi-year settlement will see teachers receive a 3.5% pay increase from September 2026, followed by a further 3% increase from September 2027.

Teachers in England will receive a 6.5% pay rise over the next two years after the Government accepted the School Teachers’ Review Body recommendations in full.
The multi-year settlement will see teachers receive a 3.5% pay increase from September 2026, followed by a further 3% increase from September 2027.
The Department for Education said the deal will deliver a cumulative 17% increase in teacher pay since the general election, with average teacher salaries expected to exceed £52,800 from September 2026 and rise above £54,400 the following year.
The Government will provide an additional £1.8bn for schools over the next two years to support the pay awards, while further education colleges and providers will receive an extra £485m.
Schools will still be expected to find the first 1% of each annual pay award through efficiencies and value-for-money measures.
Bridget Phillipson, secretary of state for education, said: “Our brilliant school and college teachers go above and beyond every day, and I’m determined that dedication is not just recognised, but rewarded.
“This multi-year deal, backed by significant additional investment, shows the immense value we place in our teachers, while giving schools and colleges certainty over pay and their budgets.”
Alongside the pay deal, the Government announced new restrictions on academy trust executive pay.
