Spring Housing Association co-founder named Woman of the Year at national awards

Rachel Chiu (pictured), co-founder and director of business development at Spring Housing Association, was named Woman of the Year: housing provider with up to 15,000 homes at the Women in Housing Awards 2026.

The award recognised Chiu’s work with people affected by homelessness, poverty, disability and inequality across Birmingham and the West Midlands. 

Chiu said: “I’m so honoured to receive this award and am grateful to everyone who has supported me throughout my career.

“Housing is about much more than a roof over someone’s head. 

“It is about dignity, stability, opportunity and making sure people have the support they need to thrive.”

Chiu added: “That belief has shaped everything I have done, from my early work in social care to the work we do every day at Spring.

“This recognition means a great deal to me personally, but it also reflects the commitment of our colleagues, partners and communities who work so hard to improve lives and create fairer outcomes.”
