The Law Society of England and Wales has launched its Pride in the Law 2026 survey to drive LGBTQ+ inclusion in the legal profession.

The survey invites LGBTQ+ solicitors and allies to share their experiences and help shape equality, inclusion and diversity across the sector.

Mark Evans, president at the Law Society of England and Wales, said: “While the legal profession has taken significant strides in recent years on LGBTQ+ inclusion, we know that this is not experienced equally, and barriers persist for many solicitors.

“Our Pride in the Law 2026 survey will help us understand how workplace experiences have evolved, and where urgent action is needed to ensure everyone can thrive.

“This research is a key part of our three-year equality, diversity and inclusion strategy.”

Evans added: “It will help us turn that ambition into action by focusing on where we can have the greatest impact and shape our future inclusion work.

“We want to hear from LGBTQ+ solicitors and allies, across all roles, career stages and workplaces. Every perspective matters in building a more inclusive profession.

“It’s particularly important that we hear from previously underrepresented voices, so that we can develop a fuller, more accurate picture.”

He said: “We can’t achieve change alone. Progress depends on collective action.

“We encourage our members across England and Wales to share their experiences and encourage others to take part.
