The figures showed 43% of employees felt more negative about their employer after redundancy, but 39% felt more positive.
New data from Right Management showed redundancy could improve employer reputation when handled well.
The figures showed 43% of employees felt more negative about their employer after redundancy, but 39% felt more positive.
Outplacement support made a clear difference, with data showing that 61% of employees who received support felt more positive about their employer, compared with just 8% of those without support.
In contrast, 66% who received no support said they felt more negative.
Tim Gilbert, managing director for the UK and Ireland at Right Management, said: “The findings underscore the role that meaningful career transition support plays in protecting and even enhancing employer reputation. However, support is not a given.
“More than a quarter of employees facing redundancy receive no outplacement support at all, pointing to a persistent gap in how organisations approach change.”
Over half of employees who had support said they would have considered returning to their employer, compared with just 13% of those who did not.
61% of supported employees said they would have recommended their employer, versus 17% without support.
