Oldham Athletic has strengthened its team with the appointment of Greg Strong as head of recruitment.
Strong joins after holding the same role at Ross County, with previous recruitment experience at Plymouth Argyle, Salford City and Morecambe.
His playing career lasted 18 years across 17 clubs, including Wigan Athletic, Bolton Wanderers, Blackpool and Bury.
Strong said: “I need to look at the team through Micky’s eyes, because ultimately, I have to provide him with players and options who are going to make us better in each and every position.
“I’ve watched Oldham teams and Micky Mellon teams for many years, so I know what the Oldham fans expect when they see players.
“Every manager will tell you that they are only as good as the players that they have got.”
Strong added: “It’s no coincidence that the best managers in the world manage the best players in the world.
“I’d like to think what we do a little bit different here is we look for players that we think we can improve or someone that is flying under the radar, because we’re not in that market where we can go top, top end.”
