Lockheed Martin UK unveils space sector jobs across UK, plans to add 2,000 roles

Lockheed Martin UK has unveiled a range of job opportunities in the space sector across the country. 

The first vacancies include roles in the North East, Helensburgh in Scotland, and Havant in Hampshire. 

The company plans to create up to 2,000 highly skilled jobs as part of its ongoing investment in the UK space economy.

The vacancies include trainee and junior systems integration and testing engineers, qualified system engineers, integration and test engineers, commercial managers, supply chain leads, cost analysts, trainer roles and senior project planners. 

In Newcastle, Lockheed Martin is supporting the North East Space Skills and Technology Centre at Northumbria University, due to open this autumn, as well as other local space projects. 

Rod Drury, vice president for global space at Lockheed Martin, said: “This is about creating new jobs, building new capability, and ensuring the UK has what it needs to defend its critical assets in space. 

“It’s a genuine opportunity to grow the UK space sector while strengthening national security—and to position the North East at the heart of that future.”
