Pharmacy2U launches workplace heart health programme
Kevin Heath said: “We are proud to be rolling this out nationwide, to promote early detection and do our part in helping to improve the heart health of thousands of people across the UK."
Pharmacy2U has launched a nationwide workplace heart health programme, aiming to provide 100,000 free cholesterol self-test kits and consultations to businesses across Britain.
The programme is designed to reach the 62% of English adults who did not attend their NHS Health Check last year, where cholesterol issues are usually identified.
Participants will also get follow-up information and support from Pharmacy2U.
The Healthy Heart Check uses a microfluidic test and a smartphone to check cholesterol and estimate heart age.
Pharmacy2U will provide a pharmacist telephone consultation about the results, plus ongoing information and support for eight to 10 weeks, with the chance to take a second test if needed.
Kevin Heath, CEO at Pharmacy2U, said: “When life gets busy, health checks are often the first thing to fall to the bottom of the to-do list.
“Bringing cardiovascular testing into the workplace makes it easier for people to access checks without taking extra time out of their day.
“We’ve worked with Royal Mail for over 25 years, so this gives us a chance to give back to one of our longest-standing partners, and the employees who deliver millions of prescriptions for us every year.”
